WE have undertaken and completed one of the biggest Vocational Training Centre Project done by any rotary club in the district.  The Alawwa Rotary Vocational Training Centre is one such project which we put up a building more than 4000 sq.ft. floor area with two stories, with five rooms each floor area is 20”x20” in a remote village HUMBULUWA, ALAWWA in the Kurunegala District. The land was donated by Rev. Kalutara Soma, Chief Incumbant of Sri Vijayaba Pirivena Paramaulla Alawwa.  The project was Rs. 8 million and funded by Suita West Rotary Club, Kochi East Rotary Club, North Western Provincial Council and our club.  WE handed over the building to the NAITA (National Apprenticeship Industrial Training Authority) who initiated the training programme such as shoe making, computer literacy, juke machine tailoring and carpentry which every year there will be nearly 100 trainees passing out in this Rotary Vocational Training Centre.Picture taken during opening ceremony in February 2003 opening the commemorative plaque by Pres.
