The tentative programme for the 28th May planned in consutation with the Rotary Club of Colombo Central and the discussions we had with the Government Hospital authorities at Welisera is given below . Sugessions and improvements welcome Pat Fernando, Dir International , RC Wattala Theme for the Event World Asthma Day & Rotary "We Care" The Objective of the Project To create an awareness campaigns on respiratory diseases like asthma, TB, cancer and COPD and other smoking related disorders. Respiratory diseases are on the increase and the estimates of WHO state that they are going to occupy 3rd or 4th positions in the disease list. The main Aim of the Rotary in both Districts 3230 and 3220 is to spread the message that TB is curable, asthma is controllable, smoking is avoidable and cancer is treatable if detected early. 28 May Morning - Clinical Screening Event At the Government Hospital in Welisara Sri Lanka Rotary will conduct a chest diseases screening of 25 to 50 Patients on the 28 May morning. Interview & have an Q&A Session on the Dos and Dont's on asthma. Four Doctors from the Welisara Hospital will lead the team with Dr. R.Narasimhan. The four Doctors of Welisara would be Headed by Dr Upali Munasinghe - Chest Physician together with Dr Bandu M Gunasena, Dr W Senaviratne and Dr Mahinda Rajapaksha. 28 May Evening Seminar Theme For the Seminar "Optimizing the management of respiratory diseases An Indo Sri Lanka Rotary approach" at Apollo Hospital Colombo - Auditorium Open to all members of Rotary District 3220 and Visiting Delegation from District 3230 Medical Professionals, Media Personals, as a intercity meeting. 300 invitations to be sent. Free participation as Apollo Hospital Colombo provided the Auditorium and other facilities to Rotary ,understanding the importance of the Project Program for the seminar National Anthem of Sri Lanka and India Introduction of World Asthma day By Dr. R. Narasimhan. Welcome Speech by Rtn Alloy Herft President of Rotary Club of Wattala Rtn Merrrick Peiris President of Rotary Club of Colombo Central Address by Minister of Health in Sri Lanka or his representative and /or DG Dist 3220 Address by Dr Upali Munasinghe or his representative.
