Overall Project Objective

By cost effective activities, in collaboration with local RC and authorities, improve   conditions and increase literacy for children who are staying with their mothers (who are sentenced for crime , serving time & also waiting in remand until the case is over) in the Welikada Prison, Colombo, Sri Lanka.

GÖTEBORG – HOVÅS ROTARY CLUB

The project commenced on schedule on October 24, 2007 at the Welikada Prison Sri Lanka.

Guest of Honour being the His Excellency Börje Mattsson and Madam Mattsson The Ambassador of Sweden.

Prison Commissioner Major General Vajira Wijegunawardane organized the event to welcome His Excellency Börje Mattsson,
Madam Mattsson, Second Secretary Mr. Urban Sjöström, his family Katrin, Julia , Ebba, Astrid
including Mr. Gunilla Jakobsson and family Johan & Thomas

Chief Guest was The Honorable C.R. De Silva The Attorney General.
