BT/Kaluthavalai Ramakrishna Vidyalayam, was damaged by the devastating tsunami of December 2004. This school was rebuilt with modern facilities by Rotary International District 3220, Sri Lanka, under its schools re-awakening project.
The foundation stone for the new school was laid by Swami Ajaratmanandaji on the 30th January 2006 and was ceremonially opened on the 25th April 2008 by the Rotary District Governor, Thariq Thulba.
As the Lead Club, the reconstruction of this school was managed by Rotary Club of Colombo Central.
