The guest speaker at the weekly meeting on the 19th, presided by Club vice President Dr. Ameer October was district governor elect Rtn Dharshan Jon who spoke about Rotary activities that brings honour in being a Rotarian.

October being the "Vocational Service" month, the club recognized the visiting Rotarians Marc Dole, Aurélie Rumas and guests who are engaged in a vocational service project in Beruwella. Rotarian Ms. Isadora Reis from France, who is also fluent in Sinhalese speaking about the project said that this project now in its third year has trained many youth in gem cutting where those trained are all now employed in the gem trade. The youth were chosen from various parts of the island and the best two students were awarded with an all expenses paid trip to Paris.
